about

“Cry It Out” is an immense original that finds inspiration for its beats and bubbling bass line in the roller skate synth boogie funk of the early to mid-80’s, the pre-house era. On top of this classic set of coordinates, Kaspar takes things to moodier territories and uses pads and leads that are coming straight from the classic Chicago / Detroit cook book for added drama. Kika’s vocal performance is daring and layered, bringing a heart warming depth to the lyrics and instrumentation.

Alex FX takes the epic route to classic sounding territory for his version (think Timo Maas crossed with a certain Danny Tenaglia vibe), exposing Kika’s soulful out takes to a relentless four to the floor groove with a wobbly bass line… it’s nine minutes of peak time bliss.

Arctween, who is also a drummer and string player for portuguese pop power band Salto, brings the original into fine futuristic territory, with super swinged beats, beautiful keys and intelligent arrangements. Something that will sit nicely in the midst of production from younger artists such as Kaytranada or Kyle Hall.
